Pakistan players faced boos from the crowd while walking onto the stage to collect their medals during the presentation ceremony.

The Men in Blue ended the Asia Cup campaign by defeating Pakistan for the third time in the tournament. Tilak Varma, Kuldeep Yadav, and Abhishek Sharma received their individual awards from the sponsors, but the Men in Blue were not presented with the Asia Cup trophy. Notably, India refused to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who is the ACC chairman, PCB president, and a minister in Pakistan.

When Pakistan was called to collect their runners-up medals, the crowd expressed their displeasure. Indian fans cheered loudly with chants of “India, India” and “Kohli, Kohli” as Haris Rauf walked up to receive the runners-up medal.

Tilak Varma Named Player of the Match in Asia Cup 2025 Final

Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and elected to bowl first on Sunday, September 28. Pakistan openers Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman added an 84-run partnership in just 9.3 overs. Farhan scored 57 off 38 balls before being dismissed.

Pakistan seemed set to post a big total at 113/1 in the 13th over. However, the team then collapsed, losing their remaining nine wickets for only 33 runs. They were bowled out for just 146 in 19.1 overs. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for India with figures of 4-0-30-4.

In response, India’s top order struggled early, with Abhishek Sharma (5), Shubman Gill (12), and Suryakumar Yadav (1) falling cheaply to leave the Men in Blue at 20/3 during the powerplay.

Tilak Varma built two half-century partnerships with Sanju Samson (24) and Shivam Dube (33) to stabilize the chase. Rinku Singh, playing his first ball of the tournament, hit the winning runs. Tilak Varma was named Player of the Match for his unbeaten 69-run performance.
