Australia Women's captain Alyssa Healy has turned heads by revealing a surprising name when asked which player she secretly wishes was Australian, and he is not Virat Kohli. Alyssa Healy revealed her admiration for one of India's calmest and classiest batters—KL Rahul.
Healy is currently in India with her cricketer husband, Mitchell Starc, who is representing Delhi Capitals in the ongoing IPL 2025. Well, having spent some time around Delhi Capitals and enjoying the electrifying IPL atmosphere, Healy was really impressed with Rahul’s attitude and persona.

The Australian women’s team captain couldn't help but imagine Rahul donning the Baggy Green and quietly owning the Australian dressing room. Healy described the Indian batter as the epitome of calm and composure, and that’s why she feels he can seamlessly fit into the Australian setup.
Even Mitchell Starc, who is known for his brutal pace and on-field aggression, echoed Alyssa’s views when asked if Rahul could gel with the Australians.
Alyssa Healy said on the Willow Talk Podcast, “You know what, and spending like a little bit of time around this group, like KL Rahul is like the quietest person that I've ever met, and I feel like, and I'm going to look over to my right here, but I feel like yeah.”

Mitchell Starc feels KL Rahul has the Aussie spirit
She then asked Mitchell Starc if KL Rahul was part of an Australian dressing room; do you reckon he'd fit in? And the Delhi Capitals pacer said, “Probably.”
Healy then continued, “Yeah, he's just like the coolest, calm, collected dude like you've ever met, like lovely, and I feel like he'd just be sitting in the corner of the SCG, just waiting to go out there and bat and do his thing for Australia, so he'd be a nice asset to have.”
The Australian women's star opened up about how Rahul impressed her with his calm and composed attitude, especially during a heated moment at the SCG Test when the crowd and Virat Kohli were stirring up the atmosphere, but Rahul looked like the calmest player in the stadium.

Healy also highlighted how the right-handed batter’s game feels less about personal flair and more about team-first values. Healy signed off by saying, “It seems like it's less about him, like he's got a really distinct routine and takes a little while to set up when he's batting, and I've watched it live, but it feels like there's less fuss around him; it's like a little bit less about him and more about the team, which I think would fit in more to the Australian way of thinking, but that's just my opinion.”

Notably, Rahul has been in great form with the bat in the ongoing IPL 2025, where he has so far amassed 371 runs in nine games for the DC. On the other hand, Mitchell Starc has also been on fire, taking 14 wickets in 10 games for the Capitals in the ongoing IPL 2025.
