Akash Deep managed to trap Shadman Islam in front of the stumps. However, the on-field umpire ruled the decision in favor of the Bangladesh batter. The 27-year-old fast bowler was confident and convinced Rohit Sharma to review the decision. But Rohit had a word with Pant before signaling the 'T'.
There were initial fears that the ball would either be missing the stumps or an umpire's call. However, the DRS displayed three reds, leading to Shadman walking back to the pavilion. Akash picked up two wickets for 19 runs in his five overs in Bangladesh's first innings in the series opener in Chennai. He didn't pick any wickets in 6 overs in the second. There were doubts over his inclusion for the second Test as the team management might prefer three spinners for the black soil wicket.
We Didn't Start Well With The Bat - Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma hoped his three seamers can capitalize on conditions after opting to bowl first. He acknowledged India's poor start with the bat in the previous match but highlighted their ability to recover.
"We are going to bowl first. The pitch seems a bit soft, so we have to make early inroads and we want our three seamers to make use of it," Rohit said.
"We didn't start well with the bat in the first game, but we found a way to score and the bowlers did the job. I expect no different here (fight from Bangladesh), we will be challenged but we have the experience to bounceback. Same team," he added.
