As Glenn Phillips bowled a flat delivery outside off, Yashasvi Jaiswal attempted a late dab to backward point, but confusion reigned when the young Indian cricket team opener hesitated in the middle of the pitch. On the other hand, Virat Kohli sprinted towards the striker’s end, while Jaiswal was left briefly stranded.

Just when it seemed disaster could strike, Virat Kohli’s quick thinking saved the day for Team India, allowing him to reach safety. Despite the initial panic, Jaiswal recovered quickly and pushed hard for a single, while the throw zoomed towards the Kiwi wicketkeeper, missing him by a whisker.

The left-arm spinner executed his plan perfectly, maintaining exceptional control over his length, which didn’t allow the Indian opener to get fully to the pitch of the ball during his forward defense. Santner's earlier deliveries had already troubled Jaiswal, with a couple turning back in.

However, this particular ball was tossed up just outside off-stump, wandering slightly away and dipping just as Yashasvi Jaiswal moved forward to defend, resulting in a thick edge that flew to Mitchell, who was stationed at slip, and he made no mistake in taking the catch.

It was a crucial wicket for New Zealand while a big blow to India’s hopes, as Yashasvi Jaiswal was in great form, having scored 77 runs off just 65 balls, including nine boundaries and three sixes, and had to leave the team in the middle of the danger at the MCA Stadium.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli is looking good, and he is trying to steer India’s innings. The former Indian captain is currently batting at 14 off 25 balls, and he already struck two boundaries against the Kiwis. However, India suffered another blow in the very next over.

New Zealand set the perfect stage for script history in India

After dismissing Yashasvi, Santner ran out Rishabh Pant for a duck, and the hosts have once again found themselves in trouble, as they already lost four wickets for just 127 runs while chasing the mammoth target of 359 runs to win the second Test against New Zealand in Pune.

The New Zealand spinner managed to put the Indian batters under pressure by taking three wickets so far, and now with the hosts still needing 218 runs to win the game, the touring side would be eager to make the most of this panic moment to shift the momentum in their favor in Pune.
