In the form Mitchell Marsh is currently in, West Indies needed something special to get his wicket in the ongoing first AUS vs WI Test at the Adelaide Oval. And the Caribbean outfit indeed devised a remarkable tactic to get rid of the in-form all-rounder in the first innings of the game.

Mitchell Marsh came into the series after a stunning outing in the three-match Test series against Pakistan. He finished the series as the highest run-scorer. The right-handed batsman scored 344 runs in 3 Tests at an average of 86. Australia would have liked the allrounder to score big once again but West Indies’ smart tactic prevented it from happening.

Kemar Roach dismisses Mitchell Marsh:

Australia were reeling at 113 for 4 when Mitchell Marsh joined Travis Head in the middle. The hosts began the day on 59 for 2 and could add only 8 runs to the overnight score before Shamar Joseph dismissed Cameron Green to claim his third wicket in the innings.

Usman Khawaja and Head steadied the ship and took the score past the 100-run mark. However, before they could bat Australia to a position of strength, Justin Greaves struck and dismissed Khawaja for 45. 16 runs after Khawaja’s dismissal, West Indies also managed to dismiss Mitchell Marsh to leave the home side reeling at 129 for 5.

The visitors came up with an excellent field placement when Kemar Roach was bowling to the allrounder in the 44th over. The fielder at the third slip took a few steps forward and the move paid off. Marsh could only edge the delivery from Roach behind the stumps and Greaves took a brilliant reaction catch.
