Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli didn't get an opportunity to bat on a day when fans pulled up a special gesture for him. The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 resumed on Saturday (17th May) after a suspension of around 10 days.

The resumption of the IPL 2025 didn't go the way the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would've wanted. The game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), which took place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, was washed out due to the rain without a ball being bowled.

After Virat Kohli announced his Test retirement, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans decided to give the batter a farewell. The fans came with Test jerseys in the stadium to celebrate his legacy, and even though rain played the spoilsport, they made sure that they stayed there till the very end.

While their moment was marred by the rain, a surreal moment unfolded amid the gloom of a rain-soaked evening. Amid the rain, a flock of white pigeons soared above the ground, and it caught the attention of many, who speculated that they were giving a poetic salute to Virat Kohli and his recently concluded red-ball career.

Coming to Virat Kohli's career, the batter had a terrific time in red-ball cricket. He made his Test debut in 2011 till the time he retired, he almost dominated the game. As a leader, too, he was fantastic as well, and he took the India National Cricket Team to a whole different level.

He captained the team in 68 games, and out of those, he won 40 games and 11 draws. He ended up as the most successful Test captain in India's history. Overall, he slammed 9230 runs from 123 matches at an average of 46.85, including 30 centuries and 31 fifties.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru go to the top of the table with 17 points

Coming to the IPL clash, the washed-out game means that Royal Challengers Bengaluru go to the top of the table with 17 points, while things got dark for defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders. They now have 12 points from 13 games, and even if they win the last game, they will get just 14 points, which will not be enough to qualify.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have taken one step in the playoffs. They will now need just one game to qualify. With the kind of cricket that they have played in the ongoing IPL 2025, they looked favourites to win the title.
