Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk gave a blazing start to Delhi Capitals (DC) as they are chasing a 164-run target to win the 10th IPL 2025 game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vishakhapatnam on March 30.

The Delhi Capitals opening duo Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk have added 81 runs off just 55 balls for the opening stand to put the hosts in a commanding position against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL 2025 match in Vishakhapatnam.

However, Zeeshan Ansari managed to break the rock-solid partnership between the former South African captain and young Australian batting sensation in the 10th over with a sensational delivery. The in-form Faf du Plessis, who was cruising along with a blistering half-century, lost his wicket while attempting an audacious slog off young leg-spinner Zeeshan Ansari.

It was a tossed-up delivery from Ansari that tempted the Proteas star to go for the big shot. Well, Faf du Plessis swung with all his might, aiming to send it soaring into the stands, but fate had other plans. The ball flew high towards deep mid-wicket, and Wiaan Mulder charged in from the deep to take a stunning running catch to ensure du Plessis walked back to the pavilion.

And that’s how Faf du Plessis’ whirlwind knock of 50 off just 27 balls, including three boundaries and three towering sixes, ended as he walked back to the pavilion in disbelief.

Meanwhile, Zeeshan Ansari shone with the ball, taking three wickets while conceding 42 runs in his four overs against Delhi. However, no other bowler could take a single wicket, and DC easily chased down the below-par target in just 16 overs, winning the game by seven wickets against the SRH.

It was a memorable debut for Zeeshan, but Hyderabad ended up facing their second defeat in a row in the ongoing IPL 2025. After the match, Captain Pat Cummins admitted that SRH failed in every department in their last two games and hinted at the changes in the XI going forward.

It's too early to worry about being two down: Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins said at the post-match presentation, “We didn't get going, didn't get a score on the board. A few wrong shots, but catches in the deep do happen in this format of the game. I don't think it's a big margin; on another day, you get going with a couple of shots.

Not everything went our way in the last two games; we can look back and think about different options. It's too early to worry about being two down; hopefully we'll get back going forward. As I said, we need to have a look at a few of our options.”

Notably, the SRH will next face Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing IPL 2025 on April 3 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. They will then return to Hyderabad to host Gujarat Titans on April 6.
