Watch: Yashasvi Jaiswal takes a stunner, but India denied Travis Head's wicket during Gabba Test

India almost got the big wicket of Travis Head during the third Test of the ongoing Test series against Australia at Gabba, Brisbane when the batter was brilliantly caught by Yashasvi Jaiswal at gully.

During the 81st over of Australia's first innings, Jasprit Bumrah bowled a yorker-length ball outside off, which Travis Head looked to steer past the gully fielder. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal swooped in from the gully to take a wonderful catch at head height while diving forward.

Jaiswal went up in celebration as he claimed that the batter had been dismissed. However, it was later found that the ball had clearly bumped into the ground before being taken by Jaiswal. As a result, the third umpire ruled it not out.

Yashasvi Jaiswal is India's designated gully fielder ever since his Test debut. The opener has taken some great reflex catches over the course of his career so far and is regarded as a safe house.

Jaiswal is also India's highest run-getter of the series so far with the bat. The youngster is the second highest run-getter of the series after Travis Head currently.

It resulted in even more frustration for India as they struggled to get the wicket of Travis Head once again. The left-hander has been in superb form this series and continued his good run here as well.

Travis Head troubles India again

Travis Head came in to bat when Australia were in a bit of a trouble at 3-75. He had Steve Smith batting on the other side and both the batters played exceptionally well.

While Smith was more measured, Head played in his usual counter-attacking style. He didn't allow the Indian bowlers to settle down and made full use of all the poor deliveries on offer.

He reached his hundred off just 115 balls with 13 fours. It was his second century of the series which also makes him the highest run-getter so far. He continued his merry way even after completing his hundred as he kept on scoring runs all around the ground.

Jasprit Bumrah brings India back into the game

Travis Head was finally dismissed for a belligerent 152 off only 160 balls. He struck 18 fours in his whirlwind knock. As expected, Jasprit Bumrah picked up his wicket when he had him caught behind by the wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant.

While Travis Head slammed a ton, Steve Smith too reached the three-figure mark. It was an emotional moment for Smith who scored his first century in 26 Test innings. Smith scored 101 off 190 balls and was dismissed by Bumrah.

Both the batters put Australia in command with their marathon partnership. Australia lost Mitchell Marsh for a low score but the wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey was there to steer the innings. Bumrah completed a well-deserved five-wicket haul and continued his good run in the series.
