Yashasvi Jaiswal, on Saturday (September 21), took a brilliant catch to send back Zakir Hasan in the second innings of the ongoing India vs Bangladesh Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Set a target of 515 runs, Bangladesh were off to a good start. Zakir Hasan was looking particularly impressive as he was batting with a very positive intent. The left-handed batsman, who was out for 3 runs in the first innings, got going in the second innings by hitting Jasprit Bumrah for two fours in the very first over.
In the sixth over, he hit Mohammed Siraj for two fours and a six that left even Rohit Sharma impressed. At the end of the second session, Bangladesh had raced away to 56/0 in 13 overs. India needed something special to break the stand between Zakir Hasan and Shadman Islam and Yashasvi Jaiswal rose to the occasion.
The India opener came up with a brilliant effort to send back Zakir and give his team a much-needed breakthrough. On the second delivery of the 18th over bowled by Bumrah, Zakir edged the ball towards the gully.
At first, it looked like the ball would run past Yashasvi Jaiswal. However, the opening batsman dived towards his left and took a stunning one-handed catch to send back Zakir. The Bangladesh opener departed after scoring 33 runs from 47 balls. His knock was studded with five fours and a six.
