Afghanistan's captain and one of the world’s best spinners, Rashid Khan, is known for his fierce competitiveness on the cricket field, but he revealed his lighter side during a post-match interview at the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on Friday, June 14.

After the Afghanistan cricket team’s convincing seven-wicket win over Papua New Guinea (PNG) in their Group C match at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad & Tobago, Rashid playfully gate-crashed his teammate Fazalhaq Farooqi's post-match interview with the broadcaster Ian Bishop.

Farooqi, who had delivered a stellar performance with figures of 3/16 to help Afghanistan dismiss PNG for just 95 runs, was rightfully soaking in the limelight as the Player of the Match. As the star pacer discussed his performance and Afghanistan's qualification for the Super 8 stage, Rashid decided to light up the atmosphere by joining the interview unexpectedly.

Well, the mute interaction between Rashid and Farooqi turned into a light-hearted banter, with Rashid attempting to distract his teammate throughout the interview. Standing beside the camera, Rashid cheekily tried to make Farooqi laugh, prompting the fast-bowler to playfully tell his captain to "shut up" while maintaining his composure and continuing with the interview.

Farooqi remarked during his interview that "Rashid is trying to make me laugh, but I am not laughing," as he managed to keep a straight face and concentrate on the interview. In response to one of the questions, Farooqi jokingly told Rashid to "shut up," prompting Ian Bishop to clarify to viewers that the comment was directed at Rashid and not at him.

The clip of the heartwarming moment was shared by the ICC and T20 World Cup on their social media handles, and now it's all over the internet, with fans just loving the bromance between the Afghan stars. Well, their jovial moment shows their camaraderie, team's spirit, and unity amidst their quest for the maiden ICC title in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

Meanwhile, Farooqi revealed that he tries to swing the ball if the conditions are favourable for swing bowling and sticks to not allowing the batters to get boundaries when there is no movement on offer. As Afghanistan qualified for the Super Eight round of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, he congratulates his teammates for their proud moment.

Farooqi told Bishop during the post-match presentation: “I want to congratulate the entire team because we have now officially qualified for the Super Eight. I feel proud. Before the warm-up match, I was in the IPL. I did not get any chances there, unfortunately. I played just one warm-up game.

I know how to carry my body, and I just tried to keep it simple. I try to get some wickets if there is some movement or swing. If there is nothing, then I try to go to Plan B, not go for boundaries, and keep it simple. We have to give our 100%, and we will try our best to do it in the last match as well.”
