India had the best session so far in the Lord's Test on the first session of Day 3. The two batters, Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul, scored runs at a very healthy rate and never seemed troubled by the English bowlers.
Ben Stokes had to bring out unorthodox fields as well as use all his bowlers, including himself, but nothing seemed to work against the dynamic duo of Pant and Rahul. This innings marked their third 100-run partnership in test cricket.
Speaking of individual excellence, KL Rahul nears another stunning hundred at Lord's. Rishabh Pant also batted well for his half-century before getting dismissed just at the stroke of lunch.
Zak Crawley turns 'Superman' to deny Rishabh Pant a six
Nothing seemed to go England's way as the Indian batters were playing flawlessly on Day 3, but Rishabh Pant did not leave his natural style of play as he kept advancing down the track on several occasions to both spinners and pacers.
He also brought out his ramps and slogs; while playing one such shot, in an attempt to pull Ben Stokes, the ball flew towards the fine leg boundary, and Zak Crawley set himself right at the edge of the boundary rope. Despite an earnest attempt, he could not convert it into a catch but pulled out a stunning save, denying Pant his third six of the innings.

Rishabh Pant nears flurry of test records
Rishabh Pant has been in some form ever since his arrival in England as the Indian team's vice-captain. After two hundreds in the first Test, Pant backed his innings with another fifty in the second Test at Edgbaston.
Rishabh might have been injured during the Lord's Test and could not take the field as the wicket-keeper for India, but played his part as a batter. He looked well in shape for his 74 years before he was dismissed just before lunch.
During his Lord's innings, Pant has already broken many records in the longest format of the game. He became the first visiting wicket-keeper to have scored 400+ runs on English soil.
He became the highest run-getter in a single test series for India by a wicket-keeper batsman, leaving behind the likes of former stars MS Dhoni and Farokh Engineer, who held the record until now.
Pant now has 87 sixes in his Test career and is just 2 sixes away from surpassing former skipper Rohit Sharma and 4 sixes away from going past Virender Sehwag on the list of most sixes for India in Test matches, where he currently sits in the third position.
Rishabh Pant dismissed by a cracker from Ben Stokes
Whenever the Indian team is looking to build on partnerships, the English skipper ruins the show. He dismissed Karun Nair when a partnership was budding between him and Rahul for the second wicket.
Now, after a 100-run stand between Pant and KL Rahul, Stokes has once again broken the partnership with a sly direct hit that found Pant short of his crease. Rishabh missed the opportunity to score another hundred in England. India goes for lunch at 248/4.
