The third edition of the World Championship of Legends (WCL) will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from October 3 to 18. Notably, the upcoming tournament will move out of the United Kingdom (UK) for the first time, with Dubai and Sharjah set to host the matches.
The WCL Season 2 attracted a record 425 million viewers worldwide. India Champions won the inaugural title by beating Pakistan Champions, while South Africa Champions lifted the Season 2 trophy after defeating Pakistan in the final. Bangladesh Champions will join the competition this year
UAE Takes Over Hosting Duties for WCL Season 3
The World Championship of Legends will move to the UAE for the first time after two successful seasons in the UK. Dubai International Cricket Stadium and Sharjah Cricket Stadium will host the matches in the upcoming tournament.
Bangladesh Champions will join the competition for the third season. Former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Mahmudullah will be among the new additions, while several other legends will return. The organizers hope the UAE edition will take the league to a wider global audience.
The much-anticipated India Champions vs Pakistan Champions clash will take place in Dubai on October 10. Notably, the group stage will feature daily double-headers before the tournament moves to the knockout stage. The semi-finals will be played in Sharjah on October 16, followed by the final on October 18.
David Warner Set to Make WCL Debut
David Warner will make his WCL debut this season after joining the Australia Champions squad. The former Australian opener will bring his aggressive batting to the tournament and is set to feature in the opening match against India Champions on October 3.
Warner will share the stage with several returning legends, including Yuvraj Singh, AB de Villiers, DJ Bravo and Moeen Ali. Shahid Afridi will again represent Pakistan Champions, while West Indies great Chris Gayle is also set to feature.
