Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief executive Wasim Khan has addressed an increased number of T20Is during their upcoming tour of the West Indies. On Friday, West Indies announced visits from Australia, South Africa, and Pakistan as all three teams are scheduled to play 15 T20Is against the hosts. Wasim Khan said that they reduced a Test from their tour and accommodated two T20Is, keeping in mind the T20 World Cup this year.

As per the revised schedule, Pakistan will visit the West Indies to play two Tests and five T20Is, beginning in July. Babar Azam and co. will land in Barbados on the 21st of July as Kensington Oval will host the first two T20Is. The Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in St. Lucia will stage the remaining three 26th to 29th of July. After that, the two teams will travel to Jamaica for back to back Test matches at the Sabina Park from the 12th to the 24th of August.

Wasim Khan revealed that a West Indies tour remains highly valued for them always as they have excellent playing facilities, supporting crowds, and great ambience to encourage backing the players to produce their best cricket. With the T20 World Cup looming this year, they consulted with Cricket West Indies to accommodate two T20Is by reducing a Test as it provides both sides a content to prepare for the global event.

“The tour to the West Indies is always a valued and prized for Pakistan cricket teams. The Caribbean Cricket history, backed up by the excellent playing facilities, supporting crowds and great ambience, encourages and motivates the players to produce their very best. In consultation with the Cricket West Indies and keeping an eye on this year’s ICC men’s T20 World Cup, we have agreed to replace one Test match with two additional T20Is. This is aimed at providing further T20 content for both teams as we continue to prepare and build up to the gobal ICC event,” Khan said as quoted by ANI News.
