'We are looking to win T20I series': Najmul Hossain Shanto fires India massive warning

Bangladesh National Cricket Team skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto issued a warning to the India National Cricket Team ahead of the T20I series between the teams. He said that they will be playing the aggressive brand of cricket and are looking to win.

After the exciting Test series, India and Bangladesh will be locking horns with each other in the three-match T20I series. The series between the two teams will begin on Saturday (6th October) at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior.

Bangladesh National Cricket Team suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss in the Test series against India. The Najmul Hossain Shanto's team would now be keen to make an impact and make sure that they end the tour on high by winning the three-match series.

Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side have named an exciting squad as they prepare for the T20 World Cup 2026. They have named a pretty young side and would want to make an instant impact by winning the first game of the series in Gwalior. India, on the other hand, also have named a young side, and it promises to be an exciting series.

Ahead of the first game, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto made a bold statement, saying that are focused on winning the series. He said that with a fresh set of players in the mix, they are looking to play good cricket. He admitted that they didn't play well in Tests but asserted that T20 is a different ball game. Speaking during a press conference, he explained:

"We are looking to win this series, to be very honest. We want to play aggressive cricket. In our last World Cup, we had a good opportunity to reach the semi-finals, but we missed out. This is a new team, and I hope all the players will play some good cricket here.

"We all know we didn't play our best cricket in the Tests, but we’re not dwelling on that. T20 is a different ball game. Whoever plays well on the day, wins. It’s not about past performances."

Najmul Hossain Shanto further stressed that any player, be it experienced or young, can take the game away from the opposition in T20Is. He highlighted that the team that performs well will win and they will make sure that they are that team.

Najmul Hossain Shanto also spoke about the conditions, saying that they don't have much idea about how the wicket will perform, but they need to adapt quickly, and they are confident of playing well. He explained:

"In T20Is, you never know. It's not about big names or experienced players. The team that performs better on that day in batting, bowling, and fielding will win. We need to ensure we’re that team.

"We don't have much idea about the wicket, but we’ve had practice sessions to try and understand how it behaves. It's important for us to adjust quickly, as international teams must do. It’s an important series for us. T20 cricket is all about what happens on the day, and we’re confident we can play well," he concluded.
