"We can’t keep everyone happy" - Suryakumar Yadav slams people calling his T20 WC final catch controversial
Suryakumar Yadav has opened up on his historic catch in the T20 World Cup 2024 final. The catch was historic and controversial at the same time as many people believed that Surya's foot was touching the ropes when he caught the ball.
During the match, Suryakumar was confident that he had taken the catch cleanly. The on-field umpires rightfully went to the third umpire and it was checked from different angles. The TV umpire found the catch to be absolutely fine and gave the decision in India's favor.
As a result, David Miller, who was South Africa's last recognized batter at the crease, was dismissed for 21 off 17 balls. South Africa required 16 runs off 6 balls but their hopes were high till Miller was there. But after his dismissal, allrounder Hardik Pandya kept his composure to seal the deal for India.

When asked if he had practiced such catches in the training, he answered that he kept his mind calm which helped him do well when the opportunity came.
“I had practiced many times to take a catch like that one. During the match, my mind was calm. God gave me an opportunity to do well for the country,” the right-handed batter said.

“I like it, whenever I go to bat, I want to play and enjoy the game. That is also a part of my batting,” Suryakumar replied when asked about his style of chewing gum when batting.
