Indian Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane mentioned that he wasn’t much concerned about the criticism going around him and Pujara ahead of the second Test at Lord’s. Rahane and Pujara were under immense pressure ahead of the second Test at Lord’s owing to a string of low scores and they did not have the best of starts getting out cheaply in the first innings.

However, they proved their worth in the second innings forming an important century partnership when India had lost three quick wickets in the middle and they played out more than 300 balls together which was a big advantage going into the final day.Rahane scored an important 61 which was the top score for India while Pujara chipped in with a crucial 46 in more than 200 deliveries.

Rahane Stresses On The Importance Of Pujara’s Knock

Ajinkya Rahane reckoned that the people chanting over Cheteshwar Pujara’s slow knock has to fade away and the situation of the important knock should be noted. He added that Pujara playing more than 200 balls was very crucial to India’s chances in the Test and it paved the way for a lower-order assault from the Indian batting lineup.

“Cheteshwar, we always talk about him playing slow. But that innings of him was really important for us. I mean, he batted almost 200+ balls even though he got just 46 runs. I thought those 200 balls were really important for us,” Rahane said.

“I’m Happy People Are Talking About Me” – Ajinkya Rahane

Ajinkya Rahane wasn’t much concerned about people criticizing him for being inconsistent and he was happy to be an important part of the side still. He added that he and Pujara have come across this situation numerous times and they do know how to handle this pressure with the experience they have. He stressed about the contribution that make will matter a lot.

“I’m happy people are talking about me. I always believe people talk about important people. So I’m not too concerned about that. It’s all about contribution for the team. And Pujara and I’ve been playing since long. We know how to handle pressure.

“We know how to handle certain situations, so we are not concerned about them. We just wanted to contribute for the team and that’s what we are,” he added.
