South Africa fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has issued a serious warning to the hosts West Indies before the two-match Test series, which will begin on August 7. The first Test of the series will be played at the iconic Queen's Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad.

South Africa have never lost a Test match to West Indies since 2007. Since their readmission, the Proteas have never lost a multi-game bilateral Test series to West Indies. Overall, South Africa have won 9 out of 10 Test series played between the two great cricketing teams.

With just one win in four Tests so far in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle, South Africa will be looking to win more games here and continue their dominance over the West Indies.

The mind games have already started before the series and South African speedster Kagiso Rabada has issued a serious warning to the hosts. In a statement before the series, Rabada seemed confident of beating West Indies in the upcoming series.

"We know that we can beat them. We do believe that we can beat them. The Caribbean is my favourite place to tour. I love coming here. There's a lot of history and cricket and cricketing history here," Rabada stated as quoted by ICC.

Rabada also spoke about the time when West Indies defeated Australia at Gabba to register a historic win. Shamar Joseph played a key role in West Indies' win and Rabada was full of praises for him.

"Cricket is about giving entertainment. Sport is about giving entertainment to the fans. We saw when West Indies went and beat Australia, that brought a spark back to West Indies Test cricket. And more of that just needs to happen," Rabada said

"The celebrations after Shamar Joseph bowled the way that he did - people were crying, people were very emotional. A picture tells a story of a thousand words. So all you have to do is look at those scenes and it'll tell you," he added.

"You need to be challenging for World Test Championship" - Kagiso Rabada

When asked about winning the ICC Test championship, Rabada reckoned that the teams other than the Big Three need to be more challenging in order to challenge them. He feels that South Africa needs to play good cricket now.

"You need to be challenging for that ICC mace or World Test Championship," Rabada said. "That's one of the ways in which you have control to set an equilibrium amongst teams."

"For the fans to get good entertainment, the cricket has to be good. I just feel as if when good cricket is played, then the best teams want to play against those teams. It's up to us to play good Test cricket. And if you play good Test cricket, then you start to get a good following," Rabada mentioned.

West Indies themselves are at the bottom of the points table with just one win so far in the current WTC cycle. However, their only win came against a strong Australian team in Brisbane as Shamar Joseph wreaked havoc and produced a performance for the ages.
