Yeah we are disappointed to lose the series - Jos Buttler

England delivered their worst performance in the dead rubber T20I against India. The only thing that went in their favor was the toss, as after winning it and choosing to bowl first, nothing went their way.

England bowlers were destroyed by the explosive opener Abhishek Sharma, and they were taken to the cleaners. Jos Buttler tried all the weapons in his arsenal but couldn't stop Sharma and India finished with a humongous total of 247/9 on the board.

Chasing the target, England failed miserably and were only able to play 10.3 overs before getting bundled out for 97 runs

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, Jos Buttler said that he was disappointed with the way they lost the series. Jos Buttler elaborated:

"Yeah, we are disappointed to lose the series. We have done some things well, we want to improve on some things. We have to keep committing to the style of cricket we want to play.

"Yeah, a little bit of both. India are a fantastic side at home. Our guys will be better from this experience. We want to keep on improving and get better."

A great guy to welcome back into the squad - Jos Buttler on Joe Root

Jos Buttler further lauded Mark Wood and Bryson Carse for their heroics with the ball and he also lavished praise on Abhishek Sharma for his batting masterclass.

"Some of the bowling performances. Mark Wood and Brydon Carse were outstanding today. I have seen a lot of cricket but Abhishek Sharma's knock was as good as I have seen."

Jos Buttler was thrilled to see Joe Root back in the England ODI line-up and said that they are looking forward to the 50-over series against India.

"Yeah, I am sure. He (Joe Root) is always keen to bowl. A great guy to welcome back into the squad. We look forward to the ODIs. It is but I think it is getting closer and closer to T20Is," Jos Buttler said.

How did England perform in the previous T20I against India?

England's performance in the 4th T20I against India on January 31, was a tale of missed opportunities.

After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, England pacer Saqib Mahmood ran through India's top-order, reducing them to 12/3. He dismissed Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, and Suryakumar Yadav in an exceptional triple-wicket maiden to put India on the back foot, but the England bowlers failed to capitalize on this advantage and allowed all-rounders Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya to counterattack.

The English bowlers struggled to contain the Indian batters, and by the time England finished their bowling innings, they had conceded 181 runs in 20 overs

During the run-chase, England's top order was off to a solid start. Ben Duckett’s quickfire 39 off 19 balls and Phil Salt's 21-ball 23 made sure that they were in control. However, Indian spinners made life difficult for English batters.

After the dismissal of openers, Harry Brook smashed quickfire 51, but he once again fell to Varun Chakravarthy, and England's chase got off the track. The failure of the middle order to capitalize on the start led to England finishing with 166/10 in 19.4 overs and losing the match as well as the series.
