The 33-year-old India National Cricket Team batsman Karun Nair failed to perform well in his comeback series against the England National Cricket Team on English soil.
Karun Nair's flop show on comeback didn't sit well with the fans and the cricketing fraternity, and they slammed the senior batter for not making the most of the opportunities.
Karun Nair scores 205 runs in 8 innings
Nair, who is India's second triple centurion, made his comeback to the Test after eight years following his exceptional performances for Vidarbha domestic cricket.
He started off the England tour on an excellent note by smashing a brilliant 204 in a tour match against the England Lions in Canterbury.
However, as the main series began, his form went downhill. The 33-year-old batsman Nair has failed to justify his place in the side and has returned with low scores.
He has batted at three different positions for the Shubman Gill-led team and has only scored one 50-plus score. In his comeback game at Headingley in Leeds, he bagged a duck in the first innings and scored 20 runs in the second innings.
In the second and third Test matches at Edgbaston in Birmingham and Lord's in London, he batted at No.3, scoring 31, 26, 40, and 14 runs. He was dropped for the fourth Test at Old Trafford in Manchester, but returned to the playing XI for the fifth Test at The Oval.
In the series finale, he scored a good 57 runs in the first innings, but looked miserable in the second innings, scoring 17 runs. Overall, he finished with 205 runs in 8 innings at an average of 25.62, and his mode of dismissals also came under scrutiny.

Nair never really got going - Stuart Broad
Speaking on Sky Sports, the pace-bowling legend Stuart Broad said that Nair was unable to get going in India's second innings with the bat. He said:
"England needed that. Nair never really got going. Not many got onto the face of his bat."
Meanwhile, Michael Vaughan said that Nair got out while playing a 'timid stroke' and any bowler can trouble him with off-stump lines. Speaking on BBC Test Match Special, he said:
"It is a bit of extra bounce. It is such a timid stroke. All teams can challenge Karun Nair in and around that off stump. Joe Root is having a good chat to the team and he will be saying, 'Look lads, this pitch is doing plenty. We could probably bowl India out in an hour or two'."

Picking Karun Nair over Shreyas Iyer is still giving me Nightmares...

And don't forget the Retirement of Virat Kohli #INDvsENGTest #INDvsENG2025 #OvalTest
This series was the perfect closure moment for Karun Nair himself and his supporters who thought maybe he was outdone by the selectors who picked Ajinkya Rahane ahead of Karun Nair. The fact is it was never meant to be, and it's fine he still has that record against his name.
