Team India captain Rohit Sharma spoke about the team's morale heading into the Super 8s of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and West Indies.

Rohit Sharma's Men in Blue entered the second round of the tournament after topping Group A with 6 points to their name from the three matches they played. India defeated Ireland, Pakistan and the USA before their last match against Canada got washed out without a ball bowled. It will be India's second consecutive appearance in the second stage of the T20 WC.

The Indians will now take on Bangladesh, Afghanistan and bitter rivals Australia, who had strived away against them in two major ICC finals last year. Rohit Sharma and Co. first lost to the Baggy Greens in the World Test Championship in June and then lost to them again in the ODI World Cup final on November 19.

More than a million Indian fans were silenced by the Pat Cummins-led side which had lost to India during the league stages of the tournament. It will be interesting to see if Rohit Sharma's side finds themselves in a similar situation at the T20 WC final, in case they go through the Super 8s and win in the semis.

Rohit Sharma says the Indian players are keen on doing something special

Rohit Sharma, who is captaining India for the second time in a T20 World Cup, spoke about the mind frame the players are in heading to Super 8s. Rohit was filmed by the BCCI, revealing that the team is keen on achieving something significant and possibly leaving the Caribbean with their second T20 WC title.

The Indian captain believes this is a good mindset to have in the second stage of the 20-team World Cup, which is down to the last 8s. Rohit Sharma said that it speaks volumes about the team wanting to script something special for which they also undertake skill sessions very seriously.

"There's real keenness in the group to go and do something special so that's a good way to start the second stage of the tournament. Clearly shows that everybody wants to make a difference and obviously we take our skill sessions quite seriously, there's something to achieve in every skill session that you do." - Rohit said via BCCI.tv.

Rohit says his team will not give excuses about fatigue caused by travelling

Rohit Sharma then admitted that his team is not going to make excuses about fatigue caused by continuous travelling from New York to Florida and then to Barbados. Travelling is something that the Indian players are very used to doing, especially during the IPL months when they travel South, North, West and East.

"Once we play our first game, we are playing our next two games in a span of three or four days. It's gonna be a little hectic but again we all are used to all of this, we travel a lot and we play a lot, that's not gonna be the excuse." - Rohit Sharma concluded.
