BCCI has announced the squads for the upcoming tours of New Zealand and Bangladesh. Surprisingly, Jasprit Bumrah has been not named in any of these squads. The right-arm speedster was ruled out of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 due to a back injury.
The fans would be disappointed after not seeing the speedster Bumrah in the squad. The pacer has been pivotal to the Indian setup as he has the knack of picking wickets in crucial stages of the match. It would be interesting to see when he would regain his fitness as a lot of Cricket is scheduled.
Chetan Sharma on Jasprit Bumrah
Chetan Sharma, the chief selector was seen attending a press conference after announcing the squads and was asked about Jasprit Bumrah. “He will be back soon. Hoping we will play for India again soon. We hurried Jasprit Bumrah before the T20 World Cup and you saw what happened. So we want to be patient now. NCA team is looking after him well. Right now, we are a little cautious about including Bumrah. When we rest a player, there is a reason behind it,” said Chetan Sharma.
Conundrum for Management
The management would be worried as finding a replacement of his calibre is quite tough. India though has the services of Mohammed Siraj but he is quite new to the International Arena. Siraj has got express pace and good control over the line and can be a vital cog for the Team.
Head Coach Rahul Dravid would be bothered as now the team needs to stick to one combination for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. It won’t be wrong to say that the fast-bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur can fill his shoes as he has got a lot of variations present.
