"We were shocked"- Avesh Khan, Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, and Rinku Singh describe Ravi Bishnoi's on-field brilliance

Indian captain Shubman Gill, along with his teammates Rinku Singh, Avesh Khan, and Washington Sundar, heaped praise on Ravi Bishnoi for his mind-blowing fielding efforts during the tourists’ 23-run win over Zimbabwe in the third T20I match in Harare on July 10. With this win, India took 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe.

The Indian spinner has been winning hearts for pulling off an incredible catch in the third T20I match between India and Zimbabwe. In the fourth over, Bishnoi took a spectacular catch at backward point off Avesh Khan bowling to dismiss Brian Bennett, who was left stunned, at the Harare Sports Club in Harare.

Bennett fiercely cut a short delivery at a length ball outside off, and the ball looked to race to the deep point boundary, but Bishnoi had a different plan, leaving the Zimbabwe batter in disbelief. Well, Bishnoi flew in the air, executing a perfect catch with both hands before going down on the ground.

The young Indian spinner’s sensational grab was a reminder of India's legendary fielder, Yuvraj Singh. Bishnoi’s teammates quickly surrounded him, equally amazed by the remarkable catch, as the youngster was sharp as a hawk on the field to leave Bennett stunned in the third T20I.

After the match, the BCCI shared a video on X where Avesh, Rinku, Sundar, and Gill were talking about Bishnoi’s catch with high praise. Avesh was in full jolly mood, as he jokingly said that he was just trying to easy his bowlers’ job by taking wickets when he was asked about his mantra for the ongoing five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe by Bishnoi.

Meanwhile, Bishnoi was not that surprised by his own efforts for the Indian cricket team, saying he felt great to be able to take that stunning catch, but they were talking about fielding for 2-3 days and wanted to improve their fielding, so the efforts were obvious. He also jokingly said that this wasn't the first time that he caught such a catch on Avesh's ball, saying “it was new normal for him to take such catches.”

Avesh Khan: He caught such a catch that he didn't get a reaction time, and we didn't get a reaction time. We were also shocked that he caught such a wonderful catch. He is a very good fielder. He always works hard on his fielding. Today's catch is my wicket, but it should go into his account.”

Rinku Singh: It was a very outstanding catch. It's not the first time that he has made such a catch. He has made a lot of catches in international and IPL matches.

Washington Sundar: First of all, it was a great opportunity for me to stand in mid-on and have a clear view of whatever happened throughout the catch and throughout that particular ball. It went at rocket speed, and Bishnoi was fabulous there. Double rocket speed was there.

Shubman Gill: Firstly, I'm very happy with the team's win, going 2-1 up in the T20I series. The catch that Bishnoi took was absolutely remarkable. Cricket is definitely a team sport, and it's more so a team sport when you are fielding. So, it's very important to have fun when you are fielding. If you are having fun, then you are always in the game.
