The new era in Pakistan Cricket is all set to begin with the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. The two teams will be locking horns with each other in the five-match T20I series, set to begin on 16th March at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

Salman Agha will be leading the Pakistan National Cricket Team in the T20I series against New Zealand

Salman Agha will be leading the Pakistan National Cricket Team in the T20I series after he was given the role permanently in the format. The all-rounder will be captaining the young team and some of the big players in Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have been dropped.

The Pakistan team has added a lot of youngsters to the team. They have been rewarded for their consistent domestic performances and would be keen to make a big impact on the international stage. After failing to win a single game in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the Men in Green would want to make a strong comeback.

"The fans are not happy with us, It's not their fault because we didn't play the way they expected us to - Salman Agha

Ahead of the series, skipper Salman Agha admitted that the anger of fans is justified because they haven't played the way they expected. But he was quick to quip that even though they have a young side, they are eager to win the series. Speaking to reporters, he said:

"The fans are not happy with us. It's not their fault because we didn't play the way they expected us to. Even we didn't play the way they expected us to. We are a young side but that doesn't mean we are not good. We are here to win. We are a mixture of young and experienced. We will try to win the series."

The team's preparations are going well, and we will try to produce better results in New Zealand - Salman Agha

Salman Agha talked about the team's preparations, saying that they are right on the track. He also mentioned that it's a great opportunity for youngsters to showcase their talent at the international level. He added:

"The team's preparations are going well, and we will try to produce better results in New Zealand. We have some young players in the side, and it is an opportunity for them to showcase their talent at the international level after performing well in domestic cricket."

Pakistan since the last few months have been extremely torrid. They have struggled in all three formats. They recently lost the tri-series at home followed by ICC Champions Trophy 2025. It remains to be seen how they will fare in the upcoming New Zealand tour.
