Australia will be up against the West Indies in the third of the five-match T20I series. This article provides details about the West Indies' Playing 11 vs Australia for the third match of the series.
West Indies Playing 11 vs Australia- 3rd T20I, Australia tour of West Indies 2025:
Openers: Brandon King, Shai Hope (c & wk)
West Indies will have to put on a much-improved batting performance in the upcoming game as compared to the way they performed in the last match to increase their chances of winning.
The onus will be on the openers to prolong their innings in what is a do-or-die match for the home side and not get out by playing nothing shots, as was the case in the second T20I.
The pair of Brandon King and captain Shai Hope have been able to get starts in the two matches that they have played in the series so far, but have been out after completing their half centuries.
Hope, in particular, will look to lead from the front and get a big score under his belt for West Indies to have any chance of breeching the 200-run mark, which has been the norm in T20 cricket.
King, on the other hand, would wish to build on the half-century that he scored in the last T20I and play a match-winning innings for his team.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Evin Lewis, Roston Chase, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Jason Holder,
Talking about the middle order of the West Indies, it will change with Andre Russell retiring from international cricket after the last match.
The home side is expected to bring in Evin Lewis, who might bat at number three, with every other middle-order batter coming in one spot later than they did in the first two matches.
One of the biggest strengths of the Windies in T20I cricket has been their big-hitting batters like Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, and Sherfane Rutherford, all of wom can clear the boundary with ease.
Having said that, a key area for the former T20 World Cup champions to dwell upon is the rotation of strike, something they have found difficult to do consistently in the last few years.
Bowlers: Gudakesh Motie, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph
The problem with the Windies' bowling lineup has been their inability to pick wickets in the middle overs, which has been the point of difference between them and Australia in the first two matches.
The Shai Hope-led side has been able to dismiss the Australian openers early in both matches, but has been found wanting in the middle overs.
Windies are expected to retain the same bowling combination that they went in with in the second match for the third game as well, with Jason Holder and Alzarri Joseph being the two fast bowlers.
Gudakesh Motie and Akeal Hosein will take care of the team's spin bowling department, with Roston Chase being the fifth bowling option.
