West Indies tour of Sri Lanka 2024 schedule announced

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced the schedule for the white-ball series against the West Indies National Cricket Team. The two teams will be locking horns with each other in the three-match T20I series and the three-match ODI series.

The West Indies tour to Sri Lanka will begin with the three-match T20I series. The first game of the series will be played on 13th October. The second game will be played on 15th October, with the last game slated to take place on 17th October. All three games will be played at Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium.

Following that two teams will be locking horns with each other in the three-match ODI series. The opener will be played on 20th October, with the second match set to take place on 23rd October. The last match of the 50-over format will be played on 26th October. Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele, Kandy will be hosting all three games.

1st ODI: 20th October

2nd ODI: 23rd October

Form of both Sri Lanka and West Indies

Sri Lanka would be high on confidence heading into the tour. They had a staggering outing in their last ODI series against India National Cricket Team. Although the Island National lost the T20I series, they went on to win the 50-over series by the margin of 2-0.

The hosts were magnificent with the bat and ball in the entire series. They outclassed the Indian team in the ODI series and entertained the crowd. They exploited the home conditions pretty well and would be keen to do the same in the next series against West Indies National Cricket Team.

West Indies, on the other hand, are also in good form. They whitewashed South Africa National Cricket Team in the three-match T20I series and would be eager to carry on their form in the next series against Island Nation in both the white-ball series.

With both Sri Lanka and Windies coming into the series on the back of the wins in their last series, it promises to be an exciting series between the teams. Both the teams have had tough last few years in international cricket, and with them slowly rising the ranks, they would want to make a statement.

The last time Sri Lanka and West Indies clashed with each other in the ODI series was in 2020/21. It saw the Carribean team thumping the opposition by the margin of 3-0. They won all the games by a fine margin and would be hoping to achieve the same in the upcoming 50-over series.

West Indies were also victorious in the last T20I series between the teams. They won the three-match by the margin of 2-1. They also faced each other in the T20 World Cup 2021, and at that time, it was the Sri Lanka National Cricket Team who won the game by a margin of 21 runs.
