Riding on Heinrich Klaasen's whirlwind unbeaten century, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), on Sunday (May 25), posted a daunting total of 278/3 in the allotted 20 overs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Captain Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first. His decision was justified by openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head as they gave their team a flying start. The star openers added 92 runs in just 6.5 overs to lay the foundation for the big total.

Sunil Narine gave KKR the first breakthrough by dismissing Abhishek for 32. However, it did not bring any respite for the defending champions. Head was joined by Klaasen in the middle and the duo kept taking KKR bowlers to the cleaners.

They added 83 runs for the second wicket before Head was dismissed by Narine for 76 runs. Unlike Head, Klaasen did not squander his start and went on to complete his century. The South Africa star completed a 17-ball fifty in the 12th over and just did not take his foot off the pedal.

He eventually completed his century on the last ball of the 19th century, reaching the milestone in just 37 balls. It was his second IPL century and first since the 2023 season. Klaasen remained unbeaten on 105 runs off 39 balls with the help of 7 fours and 9 sixes. The likes of Ishan Kishan (29 off 20) and Aniket Verma (12* off 6) also played handy knocks to help their side post the 270-plus total.

Here are some of the reactions to SRH's blistering innings:

SRH and KKR eye a winning end to a dismal season:

The ongoing game is also the last league game for both teams. SRH will be confident of defending the big total and will be looking to end their campaign on a winning note. On the other hand, reigning champions KKR will be hoping for a miracle as they look to create history by chasing down the highest-ever total in the IPL.

No team has managed to chase down a bigger total than 262 runs in IPL history, and KKR will need an extraordinary effort from their batsmen to beat SRH and end their disappointing campaign on a winning note.
