Former Indian opener and cricket expert Aakash Chopra gave his opinion on the recent changes in the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Code of Laws. The changes will come into effect later this year.

Many people thought it was unjust and against cricket’s spirit. The form of dismissal was even termed by the Australian media as ‘Mankading,’ a label that has stuck for years.

Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar, however, believes that naming it ‘Mankading’ is disrespectful to the Indian icon and that it should instead be called ‘Browned’ after the batter. Aakash Chopra expressed his entire agreement with Gavaskar’s viewpoint.

Mankading‘ was a term used in the past to describe when a batter was run out at the non-end. striker Sunil Gavaskar gets enraged when he hears this and always asks that if the batter’s name is Brown, why is it named ‘Mankading’ when it should be termed ‘Browned‘. Sunil Gavaskar has my complete support.

Aakash Chopra Discussed MCC Rules In Every Way possible:

The Marylebone Cricket Club has made a few adjustments to the international game’s Code of Laws. The new regulations will not take effect until October 2022. In the meantime, the MCC will update the appropriate documents to help with the umpire and official training on a global scale.

A new substitute player law has been enacted. It stipulates that replacements in a game are to be treated as if they were the player they are replacing, inheriting any fines or dismissals imposed on that player during that game.

If a batter is caught out, the batter who comes into bat takes a strike, regardless of whether the batter had raced to the other end when the catch was made.

The dead-ball law has been amended in several ways. If either team is disadvantaged by a person, animal, or another object in the field of play, the umpire will signal dead ball.
