Former Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist was highly impressed with Jasprit Bumrah's performance during Australia's first innings in the Perth Test against India. Bumrah not only impressed with his bowling but also with his decisions as a captain.
Gilchrist hailed Bumrah's positive mindset despite a catch dropped off his bowling by Virat Kohli. The former cricketer claimed that Bumrah led from the front and didn't lose his calm despite a dropped catch.
Kohli dropped an easy catch of Australia's No. 3 batter Marnus Labuschagne at second slip. Initially, he had caught the ball but it spilled out as soon as his knees hit the ground. At that time, Labuschagne was playing his second ball and it could have been a big wicket for India.

Adam Gilchrist speaks about Jasprit Bumrah's extraordinary reaction
While speaking to Cricbuzz about Jasprit Bumrah's superb spell of fast bowling, Adam Gilchrist called it a "captain's spell". He lauded Bumrah for keeping his calm despite a simple dropped catch off his bowling by Virat Kohli.
"That was a captain's spell. He decided to go out there and set the tone. He led the team along with him. Even when Virat Kohli dropped a catch, Bumrah's reaction was extraordinary - a little smile. [It was like] 'Oh well, I'll just have another go here'. And the team rallied around him," Gilchrist noted.
Initially, Bumrah thought that Kohli had taken the catch but as soon as he realized that the catch is not taken, he was left heartbroken. However, he kept persisting with some high-class fast bowling and picked up the first three Australian wickets.

Further speaking on his magnificent spell, Adam Gilchrist called Jasprit Bumrah frightening to face and cannot imagine himself facing him.
"Just looks frightening to face. There was no let up. There are no discernible changes in action or style or technique. As a batter, I just can't imagine what it's like facing him. That was brilliant," he added.
Jasprit Bumrah finished with four wickets on Day 1 and dismantled Australia's top order completely. His spell brought India back into the game after they were bowled out for 150 in the first innings.

Bumrah completed a well-deserved five-wicket haul on Day 2 when he dismissed Alex Carey off his first ball of the day. He finished with 5-30 and led his team from the front. Other fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Harshit Rana too gave him good company.
