Indian young batsman Shubman Gill has had a sensational start to his international career. Though Shubman Gill could not quite make his mark in the One-day international arena back in 2019, he has performed incredibly well in Test cricket so far. After a lean home series against England, the Punjab batsman has a stiff test awaiting on the English shores. Meanwhile, Gill has revealed how the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli motivate him.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are undoubtedly the heart and soul of the Indian team across formats. The Indian skipper and the limited-overs vice-captain have steered the team to dominance amid tumultuous times incredibly well. Kohli and Sharma are also shrewd tacticians as captains, having done their job as leaders well enough, along with motivating the youngsters.
Shubman Gill underlined that their talks with Virat Kohli are all about mindset as he advises the youngsters to play fearlessly. The 21-year old reveals that whenever he is in doubt, he talks to the Indian captain and Kohli shares his own experiences and how the upcoming players could learn from them.
“Whenever we talk to Virat bhai, he always tries to motivate us and says that as a youngster we can play fearlessly and on our free will. Mostly the talk is about mindset. Whenever I feel that I am not in a good frame of mind I talk to him, he always motivates me and shares his own experiences, of being a youngster in the team, with me,” Gill told India TV.
Shubman Gill reveals the conversations with Rohit Sharma on the crease:
Shubman Gill further stated that whenever he is on the middle with Rohit Sharma, the conversations are about where a particular bowler will bowl, what the situation is, or how the team will get them out.
“Yes, whenever I am batting with Rohit bhai, we talk about where a particular bowler can bowl, where he is looking to get us out, what the situation is, whether we should not take any risk or if we are set, where should we try to attack, etc,” he added.
