The photo collage Bhuvneshwar Kumar has shared from his official Instagram profile continues to attract attention from the cricket fraternity. Last night, it was Kumar’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) teammate Devdutt Padiakkal who submitted a hilarious comment. Now, it is the former international cricketer David Warner who added his version of the view in the comment section of the post.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar now has two IPL titles under his belt. The first one he won was in 2016 with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). A decade later, he holds the trophy with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Like Kumar, David Warner is also a former cricketer of the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
David Warner and SRH share a long history, which is now not on a positive note. As soon as the former Australian opener commented on Kumar’s Instagram post, it attracted a lot of attention. As of now, Warner’s comment has over 69 thousand likes and over a hundred replies.
David Warner takes a banter on his former team
“Yes, brother, well done mate, proud of you legend,” David Warner wrote. According to several posts and screenshots on social media platforms, Warner might have shared another comment in the same post, which does not currently exist. The previous comment made by the Aussie was more hilarious as fans could easily connect the relationship between SRH and Warner.
“Well done, legend, great person, good human. So happy for you, mate. SRH to where you are now is an amazing story,” Warner’s previous comment reads.
The ‘X’ profile, from which the screenshot of the comment is shared, wrote ‘Warner still taking shots at SRH’ as the caption of the post.

What was the issue between SRH and Warner?
As was earlier mentioned, the Sunrisers Hyderabad and David Warner have a long history together. From IPL 2014 to IPL 2021, Warner had played seven straight seasons for the franchise, including the IPL 2016 season when Hyderabad claimed the trophy. Warner could have been the legend of the team, but the situation turned drastically, and showed no signs of improvement as well.
Warner was the captain of the franchise but was removed unceremoniously in mid-season. Controversy sparked between the two parties during the 2021 IPL season. He was not only removed from the captaincy role but also dropped from the playing eleven.
In 2023, he realized that the franchise had blocked him on social media. At the moment when he attempted to congratulate his fellow Australians (Pat Cummins and Travis Head) on their substantial SRH contracts, Warner found that the franchise had blocked him on social media.
David Warner called the incident bizarre
“It did hurt because it was a sense of like hurt for fans. The fans are the most important relationship you could have. The engagement with the fans that I had, with the team had was very good,” the batter later mentioned.
“I am not sure why I was blocked. But I did engage with a lot of fans on the social media side for SRH. I did feel it was my duty to engage with the fans, making sure they kept coming back. That is what is most important. But from the blocking point of view, I do not know. I have been sitting on it for about 5 years. It was bizarre. At the end of the day, I still have fans who come onto my page and talk to everyone. So it is great,” he added.
