Whichever Teams Mickey Arthur Has Coached, Have Gone In Decline: Danish Kaneria

Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria has lashed out on Mickey Arthur, Sri Lanka’s head coach, for improper handling of the team. After Sri Lanka’s ODI series loss against India, they trail the three-match T20I series 0-1 as the opposition won by 38 runs on Sunday. Danish Kaneria feels Mickey Arthur’s reign as a coach has brought for all the teams.

Mickey Arthur is one of the most experienced coaches today, having served as one for South Africa, Australia, and Pakistan. The South African took charge of the Sri Lankan outfit after the 2019 World Cup; however, the youngsters under him have tasted little success. More recently, Arthur’s on-field spat with captain Dasun Shanaka did rounds in social media after Sri Lanka’s loss in the second ODI to India.

Danish Kaneria believes instead of asking the players not to use social media; Mickey Arthur must make plans for the opposition. The 40-year old feels players are bound to use it in the age of bio-bubble and slammed the coach for not grooming the youngsters. Kaneria stated that Arthur’s reign as a coach have sent the teams only in decline.

“Mickey Arthur told his players to stop using social media, but he should rather focus on making and executing the right plans for the opposition. This is the age of social media and in a bio secure bubble players will but naturally make use of it. What are you doing as a coach? What have you delivered? You need to groom this young team and not get angry at them after a loss. Stop giving them vague suggestions. Whichever teams he has coached have gone in decline,” Kaneria told on his Youtube channel.

Danish Kaneria feels India would be world beaters if made a combination of their new-look side and the main team in England. The former leggie opined that the men in blue are serious contenders for the T20 World Cup this year.

“If this Indian team keeps on performing and executing their skills like this, and if there is a combination of this new-look team and the main team in England, then the opposition will be under serious pressure. This team is certainly a huge contender in the T20 World Cup,” he added.
