Will Rishabh Pant Return For IPL 2024? Wicketkeeper Batsman Provides Crucial Update
India’s star southpaw Rishabh Pant is stopping at nothing to mark his return to competitive cricket after surviving a horrendous accident last December when his car collided with a divider and caught fire. Rishabh Pant last played a test match against Bangladesh in Mirpur in December 2022 and since then he has been out of competitive cricket. However, he showed up at the Delhi Capitals’ training camp in Kolkata but did not take part in any of the practice sessions.
Rishabh Pant will be leading the Delhi Capitals this time in the IPL 2024. He was given the leadership role at the franchise in 2022 but then he missed out on the 2023 season because of the accident and David Warner led the side in his absence. However, he will be back as captain for the Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024.
Rishabh Pant has regularly provided his fans with his rehab updates and recently he posted a video on X, formerly known as Twitter where he could be seen working out. He has captioned the video, “Bouncing back with every rep.”

Earlier this Sunday, former India cricketer-turned-commentator Deep Dasgupta came up with huge speculation, suggesting that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) might consider Rishabh Pant as a potential successor to MS Dhoni in IPL 2025 if the former Indian captain decides to retire. Dasgupta feels that one should not be surprised if CSK manages to get Pant as Dhoni’s replacement since both are alike in terms of their playstyle.
“Don’t be surprised if they get Rishabh Pant by IPL 2025. MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant are very close. Obviously, Rishabh adores MS, and MS also likes him very much. They spend a lot of time together. Their connection and Rishabh’s thinking are very similar, considering he is very attacking and positive. He’s always talking about winning and whatnot,” said Dasgupta.
Rishabh Pant has always considered MS Dhoni as his role model and both of them have a lot of similarities in terms of their game. Pant has the potential to lead the Indian Cricket Team soon. In fact, he has led India in a few T20 games and this time he could be seen leading the Delhi Capitals after a gap of two years
