Women's Asia Cup 2026 likely to be held in UAE
As reported by Cricinfo, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has not yet finalized the fixtures for the Women's Asia Cup 2026, but the tournament is expected to take place from August 28 to September 13 in the UAE. This will be the sixth edition of the Women's T20 Asia Cup.
A total of eight teams are expected to take part in the upcoming edition of the Women's Asia Cup. The participating teams are the defending champions Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, and host UAE, all taking part in the tournament.
Although the UAE is expected to host the tournament, the ACC has not officially confirmed the venue yet. The delay is believed to be because the tournament is still waiting for final approval from the ACC leadership headed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi.
ACC shared logo and tentative travel plan with teams
On July 22, the ACC shared the official tournament logo with all the participating cricket boards through an email. In the same email, the ACC informed the teams that the venue was still being finalized.
However, the teams were advised to plan their travel and arrive in the UAE on August 27, one day before the expected start of the tournament. The final is likely to be held on September 13.
Since the official schedule has not been released, all the participating countries have been regularly checking with the ACC for confirmation.
The cricket boards need the final schedule to complete travel bookings, hotel arrangements, and other important planning for their players and support staff. Amid this, Jasprit Bumrah injury raises questions over BCCI Centre of Excellence after selector confusion: Report.
BCCI removed the squad because of the delay
The delay made things comedic for the India women’s national cricket team. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India's squad for the Women's Asia Cup 2026 on Sunday but soon removed the announcement. This happened because the ACC had still not officially announced the tournament, making it too early for the squad to be made public.
The Women's Asia Cup 2026 will be followed by the women's cricket competition at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, which is scheduled to be held from September 17 to September 24 in Japan. This means there will be only a few days between the end of the Asia Cup and the start of the Asian Games. So, the upcoming weeks will be very busy for all the women's teams in Asia.
