The five franchises will participate in a player auction to shape their squads for the WPL 2024. The teams have already announced retention and released players’ lists. The auction will include released players, unsold players from the previous auction, and new players.

The five franchises retained a total of 60 players, including 21 overseas cricketers. A few notable international stars, like Annabel Sutherland and Megan Schutt, were released. A total of 29 cricketers were released from their squads, and all will be part of the auction.

In the historic inaugural auction of the WPL, each franchise had a purse of ₹12 cr. Indian opening batter Smriti Mandhana created history by becoming the first player to be sold and also emerged as the most expensive acquisition of the entire auction, fetching ₹3.4 cr.
