WPL 2024 schedule revealed, tournament to kickoff on February 23

The upcoming second season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2024) is scheduled to kick off in Bengaluru on February 23. Last year’s finalists, the Mumbai Indians, and the Delhi Capitals will feature in the first match of this highly anticipated women’s T20 tournament.
The second match in the upcoming event will feature a clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz. An Eliminator game is set to take place on March 15, and the summit clash is scheduled for March 17. Both playoff matches will be held in Delhi.
Bengaluru And Delhi To Host 11 Matches Each In WPL 2024
As per the schedule drawn up by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), WPL 2024 will include 22 matches, encompassing playoff matches and the final. The tournament will be played across two venues, namely Bengaluru and Delhi, throughout the entire event.
Bengaluru and Delhi will each host 11 matches in the WPL tournament. Bengaluru will host the first 11 WPL matches and continue until March 4. The remaining matches will be played in Delhi. There are no double headers, and all matches will commence at 7:30 pm.

The Women’s Premier League consists of five teams, including Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, UP Warriors, and Gujarat Giants. The Mumbai Indians, captained by Harmanpreet Kaur, emerged victorious in the inaugural edition of the event.
Delhi Capitals skipper Meg Lanning was the leading run scorer in the first season, amassing 345 runs at an average of 49.29. Mumbai Indians all-rounder Hayley Matthews was the top wicket-taker, securing 16 wickets at an average of 12.62 and an economy rate of 5.94.

In the Women’s Premier League 2024, each of the five teams will compete against each other twice in a comprehensive round-robin format. The team topping the points table at the end of the league stage will earn a direct spot in the final. Meanwhile, the teams finishing second and third will engage in an eliminator to determine the second finalist.
