Bengal wicket-keeper batter Wriddhiman Saha has switched allegiances to Tripura ahead of the next Ranji Trophy season. He will be joining the team as a player-cum-mentor.

Saha inked the deal with the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) in the presence of the joint secretary, Kishore Kumar Das, the board’s new President, Tapan Lodh, and several other members.

I will try my best to live up to the expectations of the Tripura Cricket Association. The responsibility of player-cum-mentor which I have been entrusted with is a big job and I will try to improve the overall performance of the Tripura team in the coming Ranji season,” Saha said after signing the contract.

Saha revealed that he has experience competing with the Tripura players having played in several zone tournaments during the different stages of his career. He hopes to build a good rapport with them as early as possible and help better their results in the Ranji Trophy.

I know a lot of players from this state and played against most of them. I feel it will not take much time to get along with my teammates.

Following the conclusion of the previous Ranji season, Saha obtained the No Objection Certificate from the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) after being offended by a member’s comments about his commitment to the sport.
