After testing positive for COVID-19 following his recovery from the disease, Wriddhiman Saha’s report has come out negative again. Wriddhiman Saha is one of the keeper-batsmen chosen for India’s upcoming tour of England, set to get underway on the 18th of June with the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand. Virat Kohli’s men also have five Tests lined up against England following that. The veteran cricketer testing negative for COVID-19 means that he will join the squad for the UK tour.
Wriddhiman Saha was amongst the players testing positive for COVID-19 midway through IPL 2021. The 36-year old, who was part of SunRisers Hyderabad, was amongst the few infections reported that forced the BCCI to postpone the tournament indefinitely. Earlier, the Indian selectors named him in the squad; however, his availability depended upon his fitness and was one of the members selected based on that criteria along with KL Rahul and Prasidh Krishna.
According to ESPN Cricinfo, Wriddhiman Saha has been granted permission to visit his family in Kolkata after spending two weeks in quarantine in Delhi. The right-handed batsman will enter the Indian team’s bio-bubble in the week leading up to the departure to the United Kingdom. The Indian squad will assemble in Mumbai along with their families before leaving for Southampton, which will host the World Test Championship final. The tourists have to serve a ten-day quarantine at a team hotel within the premises of the Ageas Bowl.
My quarantine period is still not over: Wriddhiman Saha
Earlier, Wriddhiman Saha brushed aside rumours surrounding his health, revealing over social media that his quarantine period is not over as amongst the two tests, one came out positive and the other negative. The veteran asserted he is doing better and requested people not to spread false stories without the whole context.
“My quarantine period is still not over. As a part of the routine check up, 2 tests were done, out of which 1 was negative and the other one came as positive. Otherwise, I am doing much better. Requesting everyone not to spread misleading stories/information without the whole context,” Saha wrote.
