The Board for Control of Cricket in India had formed a 3 member probe committee to look into Wriddhiman Saha’s allegations of intimidation by journalist Boris Majumdar.

The committee comprised BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal, and Apex Council member Prabhtej Bhatia.

BCCI Apex Council Expected To Review The Probe Committee Report on April 23

The BCCI’s Apex Council will review the probe committee report in its upcoming meeting on April 23rd.

Wriddhiman Saha in February through a series of tweets had revealed that he was intimidated by a journalist for an interview. Saha had back then decided to not reveal the name of the journalist.

Ex-cricketers including the likes of Gautam Gambhir and Virendra Sehwag stood in support of Saha and wanted Saha to reveal the name of the journalist.

The journalist’s name came out only after the probe committee was formed and both the parties got the chance to put forth their versions of the story.

Saha is present with the Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League.

The veteran of 40 tests, who made his debut in 2010, Wriddhiman Saha most recently was part of India’s Test squad to South Africa but on the tour, he was told by head coach Rahul Dravid that he is not part of the scheme of things going forward.

Saha took the gloves when MS Dhoni retired from Test cricket but in the last couple of years, Rishabh Pant has grown leaps and bounds as a wicket-keeper batter and has cemented his place in the team.

Saha hence was the 2nd choice keeper and with age not on his side, Rahul Dravid informed him that he wasn’t going to be considered for India selection going forward.

The Apex Council is expected to close the matter involving Saha and Boria Majumdar on 23rd April.
