Cricket Australia, on Wednesday (June 3), revealed their WTC 2023-25 Team of the Tournament. The third cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) is set to end this month with the final.

Defending champions Australia will be facing South Africa in the title-decider. The match is scheduled to be played from June 11 at the Lord's. With just a week remaining before the final gets underway, Cricket Australia has named a star-studded lineup of players who did well in the ongoing WTC cycle.

"This 'best XI' recognises those who have delivered both at home and away across the two-year period and rewards players for their consistency rather than just top run scorers and wicket takers," stated Cricket Australia.

As a result, several notable names such as Ben Duckett, Mitchell Starc, and Nathan Lyon failed to make the cut.

Cricket Australia's WTC 2023-25 Best XI:

Two Indian players have been named in the WTC 2023-25 Best XI. Opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal and pacer Jasprit Bumrah have been included in the team. The star-studded lineup also has three players from Australia, two from New Zealand, two from England, and one each from Pakistan and Sri Lanka. South Africa's Kagiso Rabada has been picked as the 12th man.

Jaiswal played 19 Tests in the third WTC cycle and scored 1798 runs, including 4 centuries and 10 half-centuries. He hit back-to-back double-centuries against England at home last year and also scored a sublime 161 in Perth against Australia.

On the other hand, Bumrah picked up 77 wickets in 15 Tests, including five 5-wicket hauls. He picked up a record 71 wickets in 2024, which is the most by a fast-bowler in a calendar year since Dale Steyn picked up 74 wickets in 2008. He also picked up 32 wickets during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.

Australia's Pat Cummins has been named the captain of the team. Along with Cummins, Australia's Usman Khawaja and Alex Carey have been named in the team as well. From New Zealand, Kane Williamson and Matt Henry have made the cut while Joe Root and Harry Brook represent England in the WTC Best XI for the ongoing cycle. Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis and Pakistan's Noman Ali have made the cut too.
