WTC Final 2021: Twitter Reacts As Rain Plays Spoilsport On Day 01

ICC event. Rain. England. Guess, we have seen that all before. In this rapidly changing world, only one thing has still remained constant- rain playing spoilsport in an ICC event in England. And, that is exactly what we are witnessing here at Hampshire Bowl in Southampton on what should have been the first day of the much-awaited ICC W0rld Test Championship [WTC] final between India and New Zealand.

The build-up to the ICC World Test Championship [WTC] final has been brilliant but the rain has once again proved to be a dampener. It rained throughout last night in Southampton and it continued throughout the morning, making it absolutely impossible to start the game.

First, the toss was delayed, and then came the news that the first session of the WTC final has been abandoned. If the weather forecast is to be believed, it is expected to bucket down throughout the day and the chances of any play happening today are as good as expecting China to own up to its deed of unleashing the Wuhan virus on the whole world.

The weather for Saturday and Sunday looks encouraging but the same can’t be said about the following day. The ICC has added a reserve day in case the authorities are not able to finish the quota of overs during the initial first 5 days. By the looks of it, it’s looking increasingly certain that the 6th day will come into play.

It has been a frustrating day for all the fans who have waited for months for the grand finale of the WTC. But, while they are disappointed, they haven’t let their meme game down.

While it’s pissing down in Southampton, it’s a meme rain on social media.
