India's 2022 U19 World Cup-winning skipper Yash Dhull underwent a massive surgery. The young batter had a hole in his heart and was recently operated for the same, which was successful and the right-hander has now been deemed fit to play and will be taking part in the upcoming domestic season.

The issues in Yash Dhull's heart came to notice at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.

The Delhi batter was attending a camp a couple of months ago and during the routine check-up, a hole was found in his heart. Following this he was recommended to undergo surgery to rectify the issue.

Talking about his surgery, Yash Dhull said that he is in the recovery stage and will take some time to be 100%. However, the young batter assured that he will be giving his best and is positive. Speaking to News 24, he explained:

"Certain things have happened in the past, and I have returned after a recovery. It’s taking time but I am positive and will give 100% for my game."

Yash Dhull underwent surgery in Delhi and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was also monitoring the batter. The governing body, however, kept close tabs on the events that unfolded but provided support to the young batter and his family during the tough times.

Yash Dhull has returned to action and is currently playing in the ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL).

He started the tournament as the captain of Central Delhi Kings but gave up the captaincy midway. After he stepped down as the leader of the team, Jonty Sidhu was given the responsibility to lead the team.

Dhull, who was part of the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), has failed to make an impact in the league. He has scored 93 runs at a strike rate of 113.41. He has played the tournament as an impact player due to the operation that he recently underwent.

The hole in the heart was a condition from birth - Yash Dhull's father

Yash Dhull's father also talked about the surgery, revealing that the hole in the heart was the issue from his birth. He said that it wasn't serious but NCA advised them to undergo a minor surgery. Speaking to News 24, he explained:

"It wasn’t anything serious. The hole in the heart was a condition from birth and the NCA team advised a minor surgical procedure. He underwent that in Delhi only and the BCCI continued to keep a check on him during the period."

Yash Dhull's coach Pradeep Kochar revealed that the young player has got a fitness certificate from the NCA. He added:

"The NCA has given him the certificate of fitness, so there shouldn’t be an issue in any of the formats going forward. During the DPL, he took a rest from one of the games because the humidity was very high. Even going forward, there shouldn’t be any problem for him to play the Ranji Trophy and the longer formats."

Dhull hasn't been named in any of the squads of the Duleep Trophy 2024. He would be keen to make an impact in the Ranji Trophy and help his team win.
