Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal will continue to play for Mumbai in the 2025–26 domestic cricket season, reversing his decision to represent Goa. According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) approved Jaiswal's request to withdraw his No-Objection Certificate (NOC) application.
Earlier in April 2025, the young opener had applied for a No-Objection Certificate from the Mumbai Cricket Association to switch to Goa. However, in May, Jaiswal wrote to the MCA requesting to withdraw the NOC.
Jaiswal revealed that he had originally planned to relocate to Goa with his family, but those plans had changed. The left-handed batter expressed his desire to continue playing for Mumbai. He also clarified that he never submitted the NOC to either the BCCI or the Goa Cricket Association.

Yashasvi Jaiswal will play for Mumbai in the 2025-26 domestic season. MCA president Ajinkya Naik confirmed that Jaiswal has always been a valued product of Mumbai cricket and will remain available for the team in the upcoming domestic campaign.
"Yashasvi has always been a proud product of Mumbai cricket. We have accepted Jaiswal's withdrawal NOC application and he will be available for Mumbai in the forthcoming domestic season," MCA president Ajinkya Naik stated in a press release.
According to multiple reports, Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane and head coach Omkar Salvi questioned Jaiswal’s commitment to the team. The situation escalated to the point where Jaiswal allegedly reacted by kicking Rahane’s kit bag.
Yashasvi Jaiswal a Consistent Performer for Mumbai Since Debut
Yashasvi Jaiswal has been a consistent performer for Mumbai since making his first-class debut in 2019. The left-hander has amassed 3,712 runs in 36 first-class matches at an impressive average of 60.85, with a best score of 181 against Uttar Pradesh in 2022.
Jaiswal last played for Mumbai in a Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir. The southpaw was expected to play in the semi-final against Vidarbha, but an ankle injury during training forced him out of the fixture.
Jaiswal made a memorable Test debut for India against the West Indies in 2023, becoming one of the few Indian batters to score a century on debut. He scored 391 runs across five Tests at an average of 43.44 in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Shone with the Bat but Struggled in the Field
Yashasvi Jaiswal is currently in England for the five-match Test series, which began at Headingley in Leeds. Jaiswal scored 101 runs off 159 balls in the first innings, including 16 boundaries and a six. He smashed his fifth Test century, helping India post a strong total after being put in to bat first.
Jaiswal’s second innings ended quickly with just four runs to his name. He started the match on a high but it ended in disappointment for both him and the team.
However, his impact was overshadowed by a series of costly fielding lapses. Jaiswal dropped four catches during the match, including a crucial one off Ben Duckett on Day 5. Duckett went on to be named Player of the Match, as England successfully chased down 371 to win by five wickets.
