While the spotlight was on the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi, there were concerns over Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s health. Jaiswal was taken to the hospital after suffering severe stomach cramps following Mumbai’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Super League match against Rajasthan in Pune.

Mumbai ended their Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign without reaching the final. They pulled off a 217-run chase against Rajasthan in their last Super League match at the Maharashtra Cricket Stadium Association in Pune on Tuesday, December 16. Jaiswal scored just 15 runs from 16 balls, including three boundaries.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Struggles With Discomfort

Jaiswal batted with discomfort and could not make a big impact in the match. He scored 15 runs from 16 balls, hitting three boundaries before getting out.

Ajinkya Rahane and Sarfaraz Khan played crucial roles in Mumbai’s chase. Rahane remained unbeaten with a calm and steady knock, while Sarfaraz smashed 73 runs from just 22 balls. Sarfaraz’s performance also earned him an IPL contract with Chennai Super Kings.

Even though Jaiswal failed in this game, he had a good tournament overall. He scored 145 runs in three matches at an average of 48.33 and a strike rate of 168.6. The southpaw also hit a brilliant century to help Mumbai chase 235 against Haryana.

Jaiswal is not part of India’s T20I squad and has no immediate international matches. This gives him time to rest and recover fully before the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand.

Yashasvi Jaiswal Last Seen in Action for India in South Africa ODIs

Yashasvi Jaiswal last played for the Indian team during the recent ODI series against South Africa. He struggled in the first two matches before bouncing back in the final game at Visakhapatnam on December 6.

The left-handed batter scored an unbeaten 116 to help India chase down 271 with ease. He also shared a strong 155-run opening partnership with Rohit Sharma in a nine-wicket win.

Overall, Jaiswal scored 156 runs in three matches. Notably, it was his maiden ODI century. Jaiswal could be named in India’s squad for the ODI series against New Zealand starting January 11. However, with Shubman Gill expected to return as captain, it may be difficult for him to find a place in the playing XI.
