Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ishan Kishan to represent India A vs England Lions, CSK pacer's selection confirmed

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to announce the squad for the upcoming unofficial Test series between India A and England Lions. According to a report by The Indian Express, players like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan are set to be included to gain experience in English conditions.

India will tour England for the five-match Test series after the recent retirements of senior players Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin. Ahead of the series, India A is scheduled to travel to England for two four-day games against the England Lions, which were supposed to begin on May 30.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan are expected to be in the squad for India A’s opening unofficial Test against the England Lions. The BCCI selection panel, led by Ajit Agarkar, is set to name a 14-member squad, consisting of players from teams that fail to reach the playoffs in the IPL 2025 season.

The selectors are likely to include batters Karun Nair, Abhimanyu Easwaran, and wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is also in contention. Tanush Kotian, Akash Deep, Khaleel Ahmed, Anshul Kamboj, and Manav Suthar are expected to be named in the squad.

Sarfaraz Khan to Skip 'A' Tour and Join Main Test Squad

Sarfaraz Khan, who is not participating in IPL 2025, is set to skip the 'A' tour and join the main Test squad. He was left out of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but is now in line for a place in the senior side.

Rajat Patidar, currently recovering from a finger injury, is likely to miss the entire tour. After the first India A match, players like Shubman Gill, who is considered a frontrunner for future Test captaincy, along with Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar, may join for the second A fixture ahead of the main series.

The upcoming matches will be under close scrutiny after the retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Abhimanyu Easwaran will be keen to secure his place in the squad. However, he faces competition from Sai Sudharsan. Karun Nair will also be eager to showcase his skills for India A.

Bumrah, Shami, Siraj, Rana, and Prasidh Krishna Top Choices for England Tour

The report added that Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Harshit Rana, and Prasidh Krishna are likely to be included in the main squad, with Anshul Kamboj also having a chance.

Kamboj can provide support to the frontline pacers, helping manage their workload. Shardul Thakur has been on the selection radar after impressive performances in the Ranji Trophy. Indian players will play an intra-squad match before the first Test against England, which will help in finalizing the playing XI.

India A's tour of England, originally set to start on May 30 after the IPL 2025 finals, may be delayed by a few days due to the IPL 2025 season being rescheduled. A total of 16 games, including playoffs and finals, will be played in IPL 2025 from May 17 to June 3.
