Yashasvi Jaiswal Discharged After Gastroenteritis, Advised 7-10 Days of Complete Rest

Doctors confirmed that Yashasvi Jaiswal was suffering from acute gastroenteritis after running medical tests, including a CT scan and ultrasound. He responded well to treatment and was discharged from the hospital but has been advised to rest completely for around a week to ten days.

This recovery period will be important for him to regain strength before returning to training. A decision on his comeback will be taken only after medical clearance, with everyone waiting to see him back in action once fully fit.

"Acute gastroenteritis can lead to severe dehydration and weakness," a sports physiotherapist commented. "For an athlete, complete rest is non-negotiable to recover fully and prevent a relapse, which could lead to a longer time away from the game."

Yashasvi Jaiswal Last Seen in Action for India in South Africa ODIs

Just a few days before Yashasvi Jaiswal was hospitalised, the left-handed batter was in excellent form in domestic cricket. He scored 101 off 50 balls for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. However, Mumbai failed to advance to the final in the tournament.

Jaiswal was last seen playing for India in the ODI series against South Africa. He struggled in the first two matches but bounced back strongly in the final game at Visakhapatnam. He scored an unbeaten 116, his first century in ODIs, as India won comfortably.

Overall, Jaiswal finished the series with 156 runs from three matches. He was not picked for the ongoing T20I series, which gave him a short break from international cricket. The ODI series against New Zealand begins on January 11, and Jaiswal is expected to be in the mix but unlikely to feature in the playing XI.
