India’s young batting sensation, Yashasvi Jaiswal, has revealed the hardest-working player in the Indian cricket team, and surprisingly, he is not Virat Kohli. The former Indian captain has set an ultimate benchmark for dedication in the game of cricket.

His unmatched discipline, practice, and constant improvement since his international debut in 2008 have left everyone in awe and inspired many. Even at the age of 37, with retirement from Tests and T20Is behind him, Kohli continues to train with the intensity of a young cricketer.

Yashasvi Jaiswal names Shubman Gill as India’s hardest-working cricketer

However, Jaiswal believes that Shubman Gill, India’s current Test and ODI captain, is the hardest-working player in the team. The Indian star believes that Gill’s dedication in every aspect of the game—fitness, diet, skills, and training routines—is just unmatched. Jaiswal highlighted that Gill’s consistency in preparation and commitment to improving daily are remarkable.

Yashasvi Jaiswal said at the ‘Agenda Aaj Tak’ conclave: “Shubman Gill. I have seen him very closely recently. He works hard a lot and is also very consistent with his routines. He works a lot on his fitness, diet, skills, and training. It is unbelievable. I enjoy watching him and playing with him a lot. He is an amazing man as well.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal hails Shubman Gill for his record-breaking England tour

After Rohit Sharma retired from Test cricket, Shubman Gill was handed the captaincy, and he has lived up to every expectation. Gill proved himself in style during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England, where he became the highest run-scorer of the series.

He scored 754 runs in 10 innings at an average of 75.40, including four superb hundreds. Under Gill, the Indian cricket team fought back strongly and finished with a 2-2 draw. Back home, Gill continued his good run as captain by guiding India to a clean 2-0 win over the West Indies.

Gill’s performances in England have left a strong impression on Jaiswal, who said that watching and playing alongside the Indian skipper is inspiring. He stressed that the team’s confidence in their young captain grows with every match.

The Mumbaikar further noted, “He batted superbly and sensibly during the England Test series. We believed in him that he would perform in every situation.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal dreams big but stays patient ahead of ICC T20 World Cup 2026

Jaiswal made his intentions clear when asked about the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026. He said that playing in the tournament is his biggest dream, but for now, he is focusing only on improving his game and waiting patiently for his chance.

India’s T20I side already looks settled, but there is growing concern about the form of the vice-captain, Shubman Gill, who has not scored a single fifty in his last 16 T20I innings. The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 is less than two months away, and Jaiswal is unlikely to be part of the squad.

He said, “My dream is to play the T20 World Cup, but I try to focus on my game and will wait for my time.” When he was asked about his ambition to lead India one day, Jaiswal said, “Yes, if I get a chance, I would like to lead India.”
