Yashasvi Jaiswal will miss Mumbai's second Ranji Trophy 2026-27 match against Himachal Pradesh as he joins the India A squad for the upcoming New Zealand tour. Mumbai have added Suryansh Shedge and Angkrish Raghuvanshi to their squad to cover the absences of Jaiswal and the injured Ayush Mhatre.

Mumbai will face Himachal Pradesh in Bisalpur from October 18 after opening their campaign with a dominant win over Chandigarh. The former champions collected seven points from their innings-and-155-run victory and will aim to maintain their strong start despite the changes to their batting line-up.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ayush Mhatre Miss Mumbai's Next Ranji Trophy Match

According to RevSportz, Yashasvi Jaiswal will leave for New Zealand to join the India A squad ahead of India's two-match Test series in November. Seam-bowling all-rounder Suryansh Shedge, who impressed during India A's recent limited-overs series against Australia A, is set to replace him in Mumbai's squad.

Mumbai have also lost newly appointed vice-captain Ayush Mhatre, who will be out for four to six weeks after suffering a Grade 4 tear in his right hamstring. Mhatre sustained the injury while running between the wickets on the opening day of the match against Chandigarh.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who missed Mumbai's first-round selection, has been called up to replace Mhatre. He recently scored 201 off 248 balls for Mumbai in the Col. CK Nayudu Trophy (Under-23) against Bengal at the JU Second Campus Ground in Salt Lake, Kolkata.

With Jaiswal and Mhatre unavailable, Raghuvanshi is likely to open alongside Divyaansh Saxena against Himachal Pradesh. The new opening combination will be key to Mumbai's plans for the second-round fixture.

Mumbai Dominate Chandigarh With an Innings-and-155-Run Win

Mumbai began their campaign with a commanding performance at the Wankhede Stadium, winning inside three days. After being put in to bat, they posted 429, with captain Siddhesh Lad scoring 86, Musheer Khan contributing 65 and Tanush Kotian adding 58. Jaiswal fell for a duck in the innings.

Chandigarh struggled against Mumbai's pace attack and were bowled out for 78 in their first innings. Tushar Deshpande led the attack with five wickets for 17 runs, including a hat-trick, giving Mumbai a substantial advantage.

Forced to follow on, Chandigarh showed more resistance in their second innings and scored 196. Arjun Azad made 62, while Shivam Bhambri contributed 44. Spinners Shams Mulani, who took 3/69, and Kotian, who claimed 3/30, dismissed the remaining batters to complete the innings-and-155-run victory.

Mumbai Lead Group Standings Ahead of Round Two

Mumbai are at the top of the group table with seven points and a net run rate of +2.012 after their opening-round victory. Haryana are second with six points and a net run rate of +1.104 following their win over Himachal Pradesh.

Tamil Nadu and Railways have three points each after securing first-innings leads in drawn matches. Rajasthan and Uttarakhand have one point apiece after conceding first-innings leads in their respective draws.

Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh are at the bottom without any points after losing their opening matches. Chandigarh have a net run rate of -2.012, while Himachal Pradesh stand at -1.104. Himachal Pradesh will look to bounce back when they host Mumbai from October 18.
