Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal admitted that teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is forcing him to elevate his game. Jaiswal and Sooryavanshi starred during their 27-run victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday, April 7, in IPL 2026.
Severe hailstorms forced match officials to reduce the encounter to 11 overs per side. Rajasthan Royals, led by Riyan Parag, dominated the rain-affected fixture to secure their third consecutive win of the tournament. Hardik Pandya and his Mumbai Indians team are currently in seventh position in the points table.

Yashasvi Jaiswal delivered an exceptional unbeaten knock of 77 runs off just 32 deliveries. Speaking to the official broadcaster after the victory, Jaiswal credited his batting partner for providing motivation and added that they frequently discuss their aggressive batting strategies.
“The way he has been playing, it's tremendous. He's working so hard as well, so I also get motivated - I feel like I need to develop some different shots too. If he's taking on someone, I just keep giving him positive messages - that you can go after him, just play freely, khel bindaas.”

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Openers Destroy Mumbai Indians Bowling Attack
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi stitched an explosive 80-run partnership off just 30 deliveries to put the Mumbai Indians bowling attack under pressure. Jaiswal set the tone by smashing Deepak Chahar for 22 runs in the opening over, giving Rajasthan Royals early momentum.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi showed no fear as he launched Jasprit Bumrah for a first-ball six. The teenager followed it up with another maximum against the ace pacer. He scored a quick 39 off 14 balls before hitting a full delivery straight towards extra cover, where Tilak Varma completed a catch off Shardul Thakur.
However, Jaiswal maintained the relentless attack from the other end. He mixed innovative scoops and uppercuts with traditional strokes. Jaiswal remained unbeaten and helped Rajasthan Royals post a commanding total of 150.
Mumbai Indians Struggle During Shortened Run Chase In Guwahati
Chasing a 151-run target, Mumbai Indians struggled to find momentum from the start. Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma failed to connect their shots and were dismissed early in the run chase.Suryakumar Yadav played a lap shot for six but departed soon after.
Hardik Pandya also could not accelerate against the disciplined Rajasthan Royals bowling attack. The Mumbai Indians kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Sherfane Rutherford scored 25 off eight balls before Sandeep Sharma completed a sharp low catch.
Rajasthan Royals pacers Nandre Burger and Sandeep Sharma used their variations well, picking up two wickets each. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi also took two wickets to restrict Mumbai Indians to 123/9.
Yashasvi Jaiswal secured the Player of the Match award for his outstanding batting performance in the rain-curtailed game.
