India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has decided to follow in the footsteps of Arjun Tendulkar as he will play Ranji Trophy for Goa. The decision to change the team from Mumbai to Goa was a surprising one, given Jaiswal's huge success for Mumbai in domestic cricket.
Yashasvi Jaiswal made his name by scoring loads of runs in first-class cricket for Mumbai. As a result, he got a chance in India's Test team and grabbed the opportunity with both hands. However, the opener will be playing for Goa from the next season.
Yashasvi Jaiswal set to move from Mumbai to Goa
Jaiswal has asked for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to change his domestic cricket team to Goa. He is likely to be available for the state from the next season of domestic cricket.
“He has sought a NOC from us and has cited that the reason for his move to Goa is personal,” a source was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

Yashasvi Jaiswal joins Arjun Tendulkar
Jaiswal has joined Arjun Tendulkar and Siddesh Lad in the list of players to move from Mumbai to Goa. While Arjun is still a part of Goa's team, Lad has come back to Mumbai to play domesic cricket for his home team.
Yashasvi Jaiswal played for Mumbai last season after the BCCI made it compulsory for all the national players to be available for domestic cricket in the absence of internationals. He scored 4 and 26 in the only Ranji Trophy match he played, which was against Jammu & Kashmir.
It is a big move from Yashasvi Jaiswal at an important stage of his career. Goa has just qualifed from the Plate to Elite in the Ranji Trophy. His inclusion is a huge bonus for Goa as they aim to create records in the upcoming season of domestic cricket.
Goa promoted to Elite division
Goa won the Plate Group last season and qualified for the Elite Group. They will now compete with the best of teams in the Ranji Trophy and the inclusion of a player of Jaiswal's experience will be huge for them.
He is just 23 and also a regular in India's Test team. Recently, he has emerged as India's best batter in the red-ball format despite facing tricky batting conditions. He was India's highest run-getter in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with 391 runs across five Tests at an average of 43.44.
The news comes between the ongoing season of IPL where Jaiswal is playing for Rajasthan Royals. However, he hasn't had a great tournament so far and has scored just 34 runs across the three matches so far.
