Former India Under-19 player Shreevats Goswami blasted India's current wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant for his recent post on India star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra. Pant recently tried to gather support for Neeraj Chopra through social media before his javelin throw final at the Paris Olympics 2024.

On August 7, Rishabh Pant promised to pay 100089 rupees to the social media user who would like his post and comment the most, in case Neeraj Chopra wins a gold medal. Adding to this, Pant also promised to offer flight tickets to 10 other individuals who missed out on the first offer.

Neeraj Chopra will play the Javelin throw final on August 8 where he will look to defend his gold medal that he won in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Shreevats Goswami blasts Rishabh Pant over his post on Neeraj Chopra

Shreevats Goswami expressed his surprise at Rishabh Pant's unusual post and advised him to get rid of his Public Relations (PR) team. Usually, the PR team is responsible for the posts of star international players and this seems to be the case here as well.

"I am confused ? Yeh sab kya chal raha hai ? Rishabh , you need to get rid of your PR mere bhai .. (What's this going on? You need to get rid of the PR team, brother)," Shreevats Goswami posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Clearly, Goswami was not expecting such a post from Rishabh Pant and was unhappy with India's wicketkeeper-batter. Shreevats Goswami is famous for his various posts on social media. He has good relations with many international cricketers which he made during his playing career.

Shreevats Goswami's cricket career

Shreevats Goswami announced his retirement from professional cricket on October 19, 2024. He scored 3019 runs in 61 first-class matches at an average of 32.46. The wicketkeeper-batter mostly played his domestic cricket for Bengal. During the latter part of his playing career, he moved to Tripura.

Goswami was a part of India's famous Under-19 team which won the 2008 Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia under the leadership of Virat Kohli. He has played the IPL for four teams, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Rishabh Pant failed to make a mark on ODI comeback

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant was a part of India's team that clinched the T20 World Cup 2024 title in June 2024. Pant batted at No. 3 in the tournament and was India's designated wicketkeeper-batter as well.

Recently, Pant was involved in the ODI series between India and Sri Lanka. The left-handed batter did not get a chance to play in the first two matches but played in the third match by replacing KL Rahul in India's Playing XI.

However, he could not score big and was stumped off the bowling of Maheesh Theekshana for just 6 off 9 balls. This was Pant's first ODI match since his comeback from the life-threatening accident.
